I got a moment to ponder things last night at work. Seems people finally decided that late night wasn't the right time to be calling a customer service oriented job. Fingers crossed that the same goes for today with people getting drunk/lucky or both!!
What I got to thinking was the following...God I'm glad I have an unlimited data plan with my iPhone. While spending most of the day listening to Pandora Internet Radio, then most of the night watching episodes of Man-Vs-Food and Futurama on my phone I realized that if I was tied down to a set limit of 2gb I would be going broke pretty damn fast!
Which leads to to another problem for down the road...cell plans for while I am in Europe later this year. I know that I can purchase international minutes and an international roaming plan. But, I live on the web with my phone. I text and play games, listen to music and watch movies. All using a data plan that I won't be able to use for the 10 days I am out of country.
So, I guess my options are try to curtail my data usage as we get closer to travel time. Or, and this may not be a smart idea, try to go cold turkey! Once I'm out of the country I'm off the web with the exception of at the hotel or Wi-Fi hot spot!
While cold turkey can be fine. It can also cause more problems then it's worth. Case in point when I tried to stop drinking caffeine cold turkey (not that data usage and a substance dependency is the same) but I ended up sick for a few days and just gave in and chugged a Dew and drank some coffee. Falling off the cold turkey wagon in this case could lead to a cell phone bill that only teenagers have achieved before!
I know I don't want to leave my phone at home and just pick up a European burner! I can only imagine how much fun that would be!
Long story short...I love my unlimited data and if AT&T ever decides that I am no longer "grandfather" eligible and have pay for a data tier I'll probably bitch and moan and consider changing carriers (but probably won't). Until then I will enjoy my unlimited data during a month where I use close to 12gb of data!! Thanks in small part to MLB2011, Netflix, Pandora, Sirius and a host of games!

I'm just a little backwards
Technologically speaking I am a little ass backwards from time to time.
I've done the standard progression when it comes to cell phones. I had your normal big ass cell, the tiny flip phone from Sprint, then the first Palm phone from sprint, then I switched to a crazy phone that could play "ring tones"!! From there it was the Razor, Razor V3xx and then the upgrade to the iPhone, iPhone 3g, and then I jumped right to the iPhone 4.
For game systems it was Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, PS2, XBOX, XBOX 360 and a PS3. Then I got a Nintendo 64!! Throw in a few hand held systems thrown in the mix. The coolest of which was the Sega Nomad (look it up..it's awesome).
But, when it comes to media systems I have jumped a few steps. VHS, VCD, DVD, Bluray. Now that may look normal but her comes the hiccup to the progression. I just bought a Laser Disc player! That's right. I found a Pioneer Laser Disc player at Goodwill for $30.
You may be asking why would anyone jump backwards to laser disc? A format where you actually have to get up and flip the disc in the middle of the movie in most cases! Well, the answer is simple...it's fun!
There's something to be said for having movies on laser disc. I started off with The Shadow and Under Siege just to make sure the player worked. Once that was verified I spent $9 on eBay to purchase Star Wars: A New Hope and Empire along with Apollo 13.
Deep down I know there was no good reason to buy this relic of the entertainment industry. But, damn me if I didn't always want one! Plus, it is a digital Karaoke player! How pimp is that? Especially since I don't give a crap about Karaoke!!

I'm a Whore...
I really am a whore for whatever seems to be the new IT thing (as long as it won't cost me an arm and a leg).

When looking for a new car I was looking for a few things:
1) Great Gas Milage
1) Great Gas Milage
2) Cool Factor (for a decent price)
3) Fun add ons
So I went with a 2008 Ford Focus 30+ MPG, decent price and look, Microsoft SYNC system and a free iphone!
When it came time get into gaming I had to grab the xbox 360 (which was the pimp shit at the time) but, I had to wait until I could get a great deal through Microsoft!
I have successfully upgraded my Ipod everytime a new model has come out...(sucker for apple).
Now I have jumped on the new blog fad...TWITTER. Not really 100% sure how committed I am to using it...but it could come in handy should I ever find myself thrown into an Egyptian jail.
Better to be safe than sory I guess!

Is that an iphone on your hip?
Really this is just me bragging..but I finally got my iphone in the mail last friday. Seems that buying a 2008 Ford Focus has its benefits...great SYNC system, 30+ mpg, oh..and a free iphone!
Three days into ownership of the phone and I have already forgotten about my 8gb ipod touch..not getting rid of the touch..but not using it a lot either!
